More than 150 cards from KMMG team members will be sent to U.S. Armed Forces personnel across the world during the holiday season
(West Point, GA.) Nov. 13, 2012 – The team members of Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc. (KMMG) have partnered with the local Georgia Three Rivers Chapter of the American Red Cross to collect and sign more than 150 cards that will be distributed to members of the U.S. Armed Forces, veterans and their military families this holiday season.
“The KMMG team absolutely recognizes the sacrifices of the U.S. military and the impact they have on protecting our freedom here at home,” said Randy Jackson, KMMG’s vice president of human resources and administration. “We look forward to sharing this small token of gratitude and certainly wish them and their families a very happy holiday season.”
Connie Hensler, the executive director of the Three Rivers Chapter of the American Red Cross, thanked KMMG for supporting this project and for being such a willing partner.
“Kia has been a great friend to the American Red Cross from support of Holiday Mail for Heroes this year to donating $1.5 million for tornado relief last year and many other projects in between,” she said. “There are more than two million members of the U.S. military serving both at home and abroad and another 24 million U.S. veterans. This program is a way for Americans to help spread much needed holiday cheer and thanks to these heroes and their families. During the past five years, over four million cards have been collected for distribution.”
The cards will be collected by Pitney Bowes, who operates the post office box for the program. Packages of cards are then shipped to the American Red Cross offices and distributed by volunteers to U.S. troops stationed both domestically and internationally.
