(West Point, GA.) Nov. 20, 2013 – On Wednesday, Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc. (KMMG) presented a $40,000 contribution to the West Point Overlook Project, a part of the larger River Walk Development Plan. In addition to the check presentation, a groundbreaking was also held at the site next to West Point City Hall.

“We are excited to assist the City of West Point’s efforts to improve the existing overlook area and begin the first phase of the river walk development project,” said Randy Jackson, KMMG’s vice president of human resources and administration. “KMMG takes great pride in being a member of the West Point community and we look forward to partnering with the city as it continues to grow and mature.”

West Point Mayor Drew Ferguson IV thanked KMMG for supporting the city’s development plans and for continuing to be a good corporate citizen.

“Kia continues to be a tremendous partner for the city and we are so pleased that KMMG has chosen to support this project,” said Ferguson. “This first phase will provide a concrete ramp that will lead from the current overlook down to the river bank. Once on the bank, a concrete pad with railing will be installed to support pedestrians with benches and tables. With greater access to our beautiful river, more people will be able to enjoy its benefits.”
