(West Point, GA.) Sept. 9, 2013 – Since the start of hiring for production team members in 2008, Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia’s (KMMG) presence in West Point is responsible for the creation of more than 14,000 jobs in the region.
KMMG currently employs more than 3,000 team members and operates three shifts of production. Approximately 7,000 jobs have been created by Georgia-based suppliers and an additional 4,000 positions have resulted from new plant startups and added shifts from suppliers in Alabama.
“KMMG’s success since the start of production on Nov. 16, 2009 is truly remarkable, and the resulting localization of suppliers in the region continues to gain momentum,” said Randy Jackson, KMMG’s vice president of human resources and administration. “Our team members have pride in every single vehicle built at KMMG. That commitment to quality and continuous improvement has resulted in a growing number of jobs and increased investment in the surrounding region and we look forward to even more jobs being created in the future.”
