(West Point, GA.) August 21, 2013 – Today, Georgia Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle met with team members and plant executives during a visit to Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc. (KMMG) in West Point.
“Nearly four years after we began production, KMMG continues to enjoy a tremendous partnership with the state of Georgia and we are proud to welcome Lt. Gov. Cagle to our facility,” said Randy Jackson, KMMG’s vice president of human resources and administration. “KMMG is a company built on teamwork and our relationship with the state is a strong example of that team first concept. From the multi-million dollar equipment that comes through the Port of Savannah to the training of KMMG’s more than 3,000 team members through Georgia Quick Start, the state has embraced Kia and we are proud to call this our home.”
During the visit, Cagle was led on a tour of Kia’s $1.1 billion facility that included an emphasis on the plant’s commitment to world-class quality. Together with local suppliers, KMMG is responsible for the creation of more than 11,000 jobs.
“It was a pleasure to be in West Point today for a firsthand look at the success Kia is having in Georgia and it further emphasizes the commitment of Georgia to supporting our industries,” said Cagle. “Kia has continued its investment in Georgia and has had a very positive impact on this region, an impact that grows every day. Georgia will continue to partner with global companies like Kia to provide an environment that allows for growth and prosperity.”
